IWantToBuyArt's Mission, as stated on the website:
One of the biggest powers of the internet, & maybe its greatest promise, might be to move from a hierarchically organized, vertical world, where information stands above and spreads frugally to below, where decision comes from above, decides above for everything that is below, to a horizontal world, a rhizomatic world — following Gilles Deleuze & Félix Guattari's word —, where information and decision are everywhere, infinitely, spreading on the whole surface & at all depths of this common world, that is not anymore under the vertical and hierarchically organized law of a few ones, but submitted to the permanent, horizontal, equal decision, & to its permanent recreation by all.
We can dream of a democratic world.
We can work to build a world that belongs to its unhabitants, and that is decided by them, instead of a world where all the living follows the lines vertically thrown by the head, by the unaccessible height of its social constructions.
Instead of laws made according to the own interests of the small community of those who write them, we can work to implement the conditions of some natural self-regulation, that would be the result of the global, infinite wish, of all of those who live along these multiple, broken, endless lines of this wide rhizome of a world.
Internet is working for this world.
Aiming to do its humble part, IWTBA is working for this world.
At the time where we launch this site, art is a world full of talented, true, faithful & patient people, working for a better world, but to whom the physical, vertical society, doesn't find a place & doesn't wish to find a place, because the physical, vertical society, is still, for how long? owned by a few ones who are at its head, who have in their hands the financial power & the relational power, and to whom these powers give the physical possibility to choose who will enter or not at their side, who will belong to the same head, to the same small, tough, restricted, decision-making world.
What is missing is not talent: it's the place.
What is missing, is not unique talents: it's their place for existence, their way out through the world. (Art is not about "expressing yourself". But in order to fully achieve itself, to accord itself to its own inner movement, it needs to find a place for ex-pression, a place to go out, from the place it was made at, to the open outside of world.)
What is missing, are these way out places.
But the world is not anymore reducible to its physical, tubular, vertical version. Now the world is — or has the possibility to be, and is, as we hope, on the way to be — this wide horizontal rhizome, this open place, not anymore centered above, but decentered everywhere or recentered everywhere: instead of a head, & of up & down, come the permanent multiplicity, moving & alive, of the spots of intensity & of presence.
For art — for this reduced but charming world, like a small and colourful place inside the big world —, for these multiple spots of intensity that will, as we hope, redesign the map of the world, IWTBA aims to open the possibility to emerge.
This tool belongs to you. Your turn now.
